I live in the country and work in the city. I am at the mercy of the gas stations. It is important prices stay as low as possible or I will be working only to fill my gas tank and not support my family.

Already looking for an electric car. Plug it in at night and drive past every gas station all day. Seems like the perfect answer, but the car companies won't sell one here.

When I can get a good deal on a chariot, I'm going to park my car and turn it into a museum.

There is no public transportation to speak off, so I will have to drive no matter how high it gets.

Not so much the price but the need for a new vehicle will cause me to look to alternatives.

Ummm...I think the Amish are on to something here. It's time to buy a couple of horses and trade in the cars.
Seriously though, we need a viable alternative to gasoline and we need it now. That, or it's time to start drilling for oil in the countless areas that the tree hugers say we can't.
If it comes between me walking in the hot sun or burning that tree, the tree must go down. I'll figure out what I'm doing for fresh air the next day.

With the price of diesel. We bought two electric scooters. Only they dont go far enough. We can just make it to walmart and back. We just dont do much any more.

My answer to the question is: already decided to switch. The Manitlabe government is working on a bill to allow electric cars (no gas or diesel) so as soon as it is passed, I will be driving past every gas pump.

I don't get this arithmetic. Given that there are 3.785 litres in an USA gallon, the table should look like this.
$4/gal = $1.057/litre $5/gal = $1.321/litre $6/gal = $1.585/litre $8/gal = $2.114/litre $10/gal = $2.642/litre
P.S. The price here is currently 1.259/litre, 4.77/gallon.

Interesting an post today is talking about $8 dollars a gallon... Seems below here the likely price range is between $4 and $5 dollars a gallon... I tend to agree with that range...
Not likely to go higher in the near future... economy won't let it!

$10/gal is still not too bad, if you are getting 50+ mpg!
$10/gal at 50 mpg is the same cost per mile as $2/gal at 10 mpg. $10/gal at 60 mpg is the same cost per mile as $2/gal at 12 mpg.

Maybe if we worked on a REAL alternative fuel, we wouldn't need this conversation. Hydrogen?
